Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site is a preserved archaeological site in South Carolina. The trading town of Dorchester flourished from 1697 until the beginning of the Revolutionary War, inland from colonial Charleston. Today, Colonial Dorchester’s remarkably preserved archaeological remains give visitors a peek into early history of colonial South Carolina.
